Things I Never Thought I Would Say

It has been a joyous 3 1/2 years as a mother. Sometimes I wake up and it still feels all unreal. I'm a mother! WOW! I couldn't have been more blessed.

Over these last three years I have said things so absurd, I can't even believe the words when they come out of my mouth.

Here are some of the crazy things I have had to say as a mother:

"Do not put those nail clippers in your nose!"

"I think the cat has enough lip gloss."

"I am only a little baby whiner because you are upset you have to go to bed."

"No, ice cream is not for breakfast."

"Daddy's underwear is not a purse."

"Why do you say the shoes you picked out make you look like a mommy?"

"Please do not kick the cat."

"Why is there lipstick all over the refrigerator?"

"I hope that does not look just like me when I put on make-up!"

This list could become endless but I'll stop there. :) I am constantly intrigued about how my little one thinks and always wonder what is behind her actions. But instead of analyzing it all (I do that enough in college!) I am just going to enjoy all the wonderful oddities of my child! ;)

Oh The Joys of College...

.....This is how I have been for the last three hours....
I am constantly contemplating on how to make my paper better yet still appealing enough to read.
It can become very interesting trying to stay awake, but I am doing quite well with my french vanilla latte. =D

The nice part about doing homework so late at night is the peace and quiet I need to form my thoughts.
I am an avid procrastinator so leave it up to me to try and make a perfect paper the night before it is due...another incredibly tricky task!
On top of doing papers at the last minute is the overwhelming urge to check facebook, emails, and, oh heck, update a blog! :)
Well, back to the grind! I need some motivation!...Student loans?? Oh yes, a class costing $900 will get me up and at 'em!

•What do you get if you cross a snowman with a vampire? Frostbite.

There's a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
Keeps on smiling more and more.
There's a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
Till they dressed for Halloween.

Happy Halloween to everyone!:)

Natalie had her very first Halloween party at school and I had a lot of fun make treat for all the kiddos!

Each treat bag had a different spooky poem on it!
They were super easy and super fun!
Popcorn, M&Ms, licorice bites and Fruit Loops:)

On the Back of the mini treat bag.

Here is an Individual one where you can see the poem. :)

So much fun! So little time!

I am not even sure where these last few weeks have gone! It has been hectic to say the least!

Lots of fun has been happening in the Wilson household- and sometimes that can be very hard with a strong headed three and a half year old, a momma juggling school, work, and motherhood, and a daddy working two jobs so we can live a comfortable life!

But with all that aside we have been enjoying this beautiful October!

Tonight Natalie's school hosted an event called Build-A-Book. We arrived in the gym and received a kit to make her very own book! She was excited to say the least:)

When we got there we were pleasantly surprised to see that there were some Fort Riley troops in attendance to help all the children build their books! :D

We love the Halloween holiday! On Wednesday, Natalie will have her very first school Halloween party! We are making these cute little poems attached to a snack mix with a ribbon. Natalie will enjoy mixing up the snack for her classmates!

I'll be sure to share pictures of the completed project. :)

Life is fun when you're a little cray-cray!

For those of you more mature adults, cray-cray simply means crazy. And as silly & dumb as it sounded the first time I heard it, it has definitely grown on me! ;)

Life can tend to get monotonous.

I get up. Take Natalie to preschool. Go to work. Go to school. Go home. Make supper. Clean. Tiny bit of downtime with the hubby and princess. Bedtime. Repeat.

Of course there are lots of things that can change that agenda and I am a very "go with the flow" type of person...so monotony can get old after a couple of days! :)

Well it is the end of the week and I was doing my nightly ritual of bedtimes stories when...we decided to get goofy and break the boring cycle.

Here ya go! To people who love to get a little cray-cray!

WAKE UP!

I am NOT a morning person and there are several mornings that I would rather just stay in my nice cozy bed! (especially on a dreary day like this!)

I found and awesome article on The Daily Mind that gives suggestions on how to get a restful night sleep so the morning won't come as such a shock. ;)

1. Avoid coffee, red wine and chocolate the night before

2. Go to bed happy with your partner

3. Meditate, pray and calm down before going to bed

4. Don’t eat dinner right before bed

5. Organize your room according to Feng Shui principles

6.Go to the toilet

7. Not too hot, Not too cold.

8. Keep the window open

9. Keep your sleep consistent

10. Cut out noise, it’s actually killing you!

11. Drink a glass of water

12. Exercise

13. Don’t drink coffee… everyday
14. Breathe deeply
15. Have something to be excited about
16. Get up straight away

17. Be grateful for not dying

Feng Shui? I am definitely going to have to try it!

Check out explanations for all these suggestions here:

I've Gone Pink! & A Little Extra

Recently I have decided to do something a little crazy...and dye part of my hair pink!:)
It was crazy.
It was fun.
It was something I'd never done;)

I absolutely love it and the hubby calls me "his little punk star" :)
My three year old asks to touch it all the time as if it's not real lol.

Since Michael is gone three nights a week, there is lots of time where it is just Natalie and me.

We often get bored and I hate having her sit in front of the T.V., so I get craft ideas from Pinterest, family, and friends. I would say we have enough craft ideas to last us for a lifetime;)

Last night we made play doh art! Super easy and super fun. We just mold the play doh into whatever and bake it!!

Luckily I had some magnetic strips and we turned them into magnets!:) I feel a Christmas ideas for the grandparents coming along!

Life's Journey

It has literally been months since I have updated this blog! It has also literally been months since I have been healthy and have had some time to commit to sitting down and typing up a little blog :)

Much has happened. Happy times & sad times.

Natalie was chosen by the school district to be a peer model for their preschool.
She will go to preschool and help students with special needs assimilate to the classroom enivironment. She is doing exeptionally well and I couldn't be a prouder mother! Plus, we are also within walking distance to her new school. How convenient is that??

Natalie also went on her very fist field trip! It was to the pumpkin patch! She had LOTS of fun and even got to do a kiddie zipline....4 times! =) I was extremely fortunate that I was able to go with her. Trying to juggle school, a job, and her events can become tricky, but I would like to think I'm managing quite nicely. ;)

There is a show on Nick Jr. that Natalie is absolutely addicted to! It is called Yo Gabba Gabba and my husband and I just knew that she would want to be "foofa" for Halloween. I find the costumes for the show absolutely ridiculous!...So I went about see what I could do so mommy was happy and pretty girl was happy. I found a lady that custom makes tutu costumes. I had messaged her a couple times and had an idea in my head and she throws this together like it's no big deal! I was and still am amazed at her craftiness and am extremely happy with the finished product! As for Natalie, she thinks this is something you wear at all times. :o)

Unfortunately, life is not always grand. Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my awesome little brother as he embarked on a journey I can not accompany him on. On a good note, it is not forever. Out of many other siblings my brother and I were adopted together. We are attached to say the least and I am sad but at the same time so joyous about him deciding to help himself!

10 Things I love About Being a Mother

There are much more than ten but I would rather not bore you to tears;)

1. I love to read. I read for information, for joy and for education. Every night I get the chance to share my love of reading to my precious daughter. She can not go to bed without her stories.

2. My heart is near to bursting everytime I hear a little voice sing out, "I love you mommy!" I will always cherish it.

3. I love that my daughter has to have a hug and a kiss often. I never get tired of it and I know it won't last forever. So I make sure to savor every X & O. Every night she asks, "can I get more hugs and kisses in the morning?"

4. I love the day to day tasks of motherhood. Don't get me wrong there are days when I am grumpy or tired but I love the little rituals of brusing teeth, saying prayers, and winding down for the day.

5. I can't say I love this but Natalie has started saying, "You're not my friend!" when she is upset with me. (It is usually over me telling her she can't have anymore candy.) But I do love the way she expresses her emotions to me.

6. I love watching her grow but I feel if I turn around I might miss it all.

7. I love that I have a little one that depends on me for guidance in growth, nuturing and love. It is scary at times to have a beautiful princess so dependant on me. But I am overjoyed with the blessing God has given me.

8. I love the little things, such as even being able to write a blog post about being a mother. About sharing information with other moms.

9. I love that I will be able to show my daughter love and respect. Manners and kindness, but also be able to have fun and find the joy in the little things.

10. Most of all, I find joy in having someone so small look up at me like there really couldn't be a better mom. I love that she wants me over everyone else, which is sure to change over time.

I love being a mom because I have the most wonderful daughter!

The Beginning of A Long Journey (Part 2)

As I walked out into the waiting room to where my boyfriend was, I couldn't help but giggle. I saw him watching a cartoon and trying to figure one of the toys out!

I thought to myself, "I can do this. I am just going to march right up to him and tell him the news."... well I did march right up to him and then I chickened out, stating that I was done and it was time to go.

We got into the car and he started driving out of the parking lot...then the waterworks began. I told him the news I had received and he got this silly little grin on his face. Surely he didn't hear me right... right?

"I just knew it!" he stated.

Let me tell you something, when you are pregnant you're emotions are haywire! I mean crazy!!! I thought I was going to "punch his lights out". I am not even exactly sure why, I just felt like I was a trainwreck and here he was smiling!

He said five simple words after that, "It's all gonna work out." It was then I knew I wouldn't be facing this journey alone.

That Cool!? That cool, Mommy?

Natalie has brought nothing but joy to my life, but I'll have to admit she keeps me on my toes!

The other day we were sitting on the couch. I, on my Kindle and Natalie watching some Nick Jr.
All of the sudden Natalie does a somersault off of the couch! (please note in an earlier blog I mentioned I can become quite dramatic...)

BUT before I even had time to react besides making a huge gasping sound, Natalie shouts out, "That cool!? That cool, Mommy?" It took me a while to take in what she was saying, and once it sunk in I burst out laughing!

She then said, "it is pretty cool."

I'll have to admit I have one "cool" daughter. :)
